Finally got the chance to see the results of my direct 16mm film work since I had access to the projector, the results were relatively pleasing. The parts of the film that worked best were the sections where more thought had been actioned and had attempted to create something that had deliberate progression or pattern.
Here is the video of the resulting film and the work I did after experimenting with different surfaces and variations in which to project or reflect the images.
The most effective examples were when the work was reflected back using a convex mirror onto the wall behind the projector you really get a sense of speed. The white plastic seemed particularly effective too, which could easily be moulded into various shapes due to the pliable nature of the material. With the next sample film I'm going to focus on the visuals being more concerned with the color spectrum rather than pattern and relate it to the reading that I have been doing in this area. I definitely need to focus on how i can do more work to create an experience for the viewer so i need to think about how they are going to experience the work and the setting. I would quite like it to be an isolated experience for them as you don't really consider your own thoughts as deeply as you might in the absence of other human contact. From my own experiences anyway.
